New week, new patch!

This week’s patch brings us more bug fixes, audio changes and some hidden goodies which you can find on Cyborgmatt’s blog. Unfortunately there is no new hero, which puts us into the fourth week without a new hero in Dota 2. Also, few heroes received new models and colors:

Whisp, Silencer and Death Prophet with new model

New patch is on the main client!

This patch brings us no new heroes, only a few model and texture changes, UI changes and visual effects. A deadly spider, ‘Broodmother’, got himself a new model work.

Despite little changes, a bunch of files and pictures have been added in this patch, including some textures for the Christmas map look. You can find all of them on Cyborgmatt’s blog.

Magnus, the Magnoceros Guide

With the advent of the newest update comes the newest hero to grace us in DotA 2, Magnus. The horned beast is one of the best carries in the game if fed right, especially with his devastating ultimate. He is a great pusher as well, with a cleave buff to deal with enemies who stick together. He also has a spammable nuke to last hit and harass enemies. However, he is quite a slow hero, with not much escape spells and the Black King Bar will remove his Empower Buff. That all said, he is still a very viable hero to main in DotA 2.

Slithice, the Naga Siren Guide

As illusion heroes come in DotA2, none are better than the Naga Siren. Her versatility to either play as a big tank or a hard carry appeals to many, with her synergy with Diffusal Blade being very powerful. The siren will dominate with items with an (very) overpowered ensnare if used right. She however, does have mana issues and her illusions may be too fragile early on to do anything much. However, the Siren will be a great ganker and escaper when mastered correctly.

Anub’arak, the Nyx Assassin Guide

The Nyx Assassin is one of the most valued heroes in DotA 2, for his abilities to disable constantly (he has 2) and the power to unload his burst on a single target, great for assassinating the hard carry on the other team. The Nyx Assassin, however, does have a few glaring weaknesses. He is famous for being a glass cannon, often not able to deal much damage before dying. His early game sucks as well, and positioning plays a large part in his late game.
